Established in 2003, Red Room Poetry is a national not-for-profit organisation creating poetry projects and learning programs in collaboration with a spectrum of poets, schools, communities and partners. They are Australia’s leading organisation for the commissioning and creation of new poetry.

Examples of some of Red Room Poetry’s projects include Poetry in First Languages, New Shoots connecting people to plants and nature nationally, and the Youth Unlocked program for young people in Behavioural Intervention and Juvenile Justice Centres. Red Room Poetry promotes poetry across languages, landscapes and mediums, including installation, radio, stage and digital spaces to increase poetic visibility, accessibility, audiences and the cultivation of future generations of Australian poets.

New Shoots

City People supported Red Room Poetry to refocus its core activities and look for areas of growth to support a new direction. We worked with Red Room Poetry to inform their strategic plan, including understanding their strengths and opportunities for growth, designing a structure for the plan, a document review and presentation to the Board.
