The Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct includes a redevelopment of Liverpool Hospital and a new education and research hub. A $790 million project, the redevelopment will provide for the growing health care needs of the community, with expanded clinical services at Liverpool Hospital, a new carpark and public spaces that will be integrated with research and teaching.

City People has been engaged on the project as Creative Producer in partnership with public art curator Sarah Wang and Dharug/Dharawal artist and producer Venessa Possum. The goal is to create an arts strategy for the redevelopment of the Liverpool Hospital, along with managing the stakeholder engagement, community co-design and the curatorial development for the new components for the Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct.

Objectives

Our scope of work includes creating an arts strategy for the redevelopment of the Liverpool Hospital that considers the needs of healthcare staff and users, engages the local community and reflects the cultural sensitivities of all user groups. The work will focus on 3 key opportunities geographically located across the campus:

  • Major public art commission: located in the vicinity of the main entry, with a focus given to a creative response to Country, led by, with and for Aboriginal community in the Liverpool region.
  • Permanent installations: enviro-graphic wallpaper designs located in clinical and public areas to support intuitive wayfinding and the interior design.
  • Waiting Rooms: semi-permanent and/or rotational displays, as a means to enrich places of rest – public ground floor areas and ward-based waiting rooms.
